CHARTER OF THE POLK COUNTY VETERANS COUNCIL We, the veterans’ organizations identified herein, hereby associate ourselves
together as a council for the purpose stated in this charter.ARTICLE IThe name of this body
shall be THE POLK COUNTY VETERAN’S COUNCIL ARTICLE IIThe purpose of this Council shall be to(A)
Function to serve the best interests of military veterans(B)
Support and promote the objectives of the represented military veterans organizations(C)
Disseminate legislative and other information of particular value to veterans organizations and their members(D)
Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and views among the member organizations (E)
Coordinate activities involving two or more veterans organizations(F)
Foster positive community relations by communicating to the local public the goals of veterans and the organizations to which
they belong(G) Plan and sponsor activities that involve multiple
veterans organizations(H) Build camaraderie and good
willARTICLE IIIThe membership of this Council shall consist of representatives from the following
veterans organizations:The Military Officers Association of America Imperial Polk County ChapterKorean War Veterans

Wars Post 8002Each represented organization shall designate a delegate and alternate. Each member organization
shall be entitled to one vote to be cast by the delegate or alternate. ARTICLE IVThe
officers of this Council shall be: Chairman and Vice-Chairman. The officers shall serve a two year term and be
eligible for reappointment. Officers shall be selected by vote of the member organizations with each organization eligible
to cast a single vote. Election of officers shall be held in December of every other year with term of office commencing
in January following election.The officers of the Council shall serve without compensation.ARTICLE
VThe names of the officers of the Council who shall hold office for the first two years, or until successors are
chosen, are:Chairman Gary
Clark, Colonel, USAF(Ret)Vice Chairman Donald Selvage, Colonel, USMC(Ret)ARTICLE VIRegular meetings shall occur on the second Monday of each month at a location to be announced.
Special meetings may be called by the Chairman provided 24 hour notice is given to the membership. Meetings shall be
open to any and all members of represented organizations. A quorum shall consist of a minimum of five member
organizations as represented by a delegate or alternate. A majority of those represented organizations present and eligible
to vote shall be required to effect an action. No action shall be binding unless the corresponding member organization(s)
