VOLUNTEERS ASSISTING VETERANS, INC.
NEWS RELEASE
April 29, 2010
Tom Watters, Immediate Past President of the Volunteers Assisting Veterans, Inc. (VAV)
today announced the officers and directors of the VAV for the 2010-2011 year.
The officers are: President, Ray Henderson, Vice President, Dean Van Natter, and Secretary
Sally LaMothe, Treasurer, Donna Hilton.  The Directors are: Lee Carpenter, Keith Duhow
Helen Imbruglia, Jim Nance and Marianne Tompkins.
Incoming President Henderson presented outgoing President Walters with a plaque which
commended him for his dedication and service to the organization.
The VAV was organized three years ago as a non-profit, benevolent corporation Polk
County and has an Internal Revenue Designation of 501 (c) 3 (Charitable Corporation) which
allows the Corporation to receive donations, in kind services and collect funds that are
tax deductable to the donor.
This organization provides assistance to veterans with an official residence within Polk County.
Grants are made to the vendor of services that are delinquent and are on a one time basis.
Although the VAV provides assistance to Veterans, they are not a military organization,
their meetings are conducted at most Polk County Veterans Clubs.  Past President Waters
said they are always looking for new members.  The only qualification is the desire
to assist those veterans and families with unmet needs.
Donations and participation with this veterans dedicated organization may be made by
contacting the VAV at Post Office Box 8102 Lakeland, Florida, 33802
